Ganh Dau, Phu Quoc
Ganh Dau is a quiet fishing village on the northern tip of Phu Quoc island — a calm, uncrowded stretch of coast known for clear water, easy sunsets, and easy access to some of the island's best beaches.
What the area is like
Ganh Dau feels far removed from the busier resort strips further south. It's still a working fishing village at heart, with a slower pace and a beach that stays quiet even in high season — a good fit for travelers who want a private, low-key base on the island.
What to see nearby
Ganh Dau beach itself is calm and swimmable, with a long stretch of shoreline good for a morning walk. It's also one of the best spots on the island to watch the sunset over the water. A short trip away, Rach Vem and Sao Beach offer some of northern Phu Quoc's most distinctive scenery — shallow, glass-clear water over white sand, ideal for swimming and photos. Sao Beach is also known for its starfish; visitors are asked to admire them in the water without touching or lifting them out, as they're sensitive creatures.
